Dr Jason Howarth – Course Director, Charles Sturt University 

Jason has a degree in Information Technology from Charles Sturt University where he graduated with the University Medal. He also has an Honours Degree and PhD, both from Charles Sturt University.  He has been a popular on-campus and online lecturer in computing since 2003. He has also worked as a Course Director, Associate Head of School and, more recently, as the Sub Dean of Transform Online Learning in the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences. Jason’s research focus is on information security, computer programming and online education. He was recently awarded a university teaching grant to test the feasibility of using CHAT-GPT to mark student programming assignments.

 

Dr Anwaar Ul-Haq – Senior Lecturer and Deputy Leader, Machine Vision and Digital Health Research, Charles Sturt University

Dr. Anwaar Ul-Haq is serving as a senior lecturer and deputy leader, in Machine Vision and Digital Health Research at the School of Computing, Mathematics, and Engineering, Charles Sturt University. Anwaar holds a Ph.D. (Artificial Intelligence) from Monash University, Australia. He has completed the Professional Certificate Program in machine learning and artificial intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received Faculty Research Excellence Award in 2021 and Teaching Excellence Award in 2019 at CSU.  His research interests include artificial creativity, deep learning, data analytics, and computer vision. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers in reputed AI journals and conferences.

 

Roshan Khozouei – General Manager Data, Australia Post

Roshan has been building AI solutions for Australian enterprises for more than 8 years, first developing deep learning computer vision solutions for manufacturing inspection, laboratory microscopy, medical imaging and supermarket retail with his startup Engineered Intelligence. More recently Roshan has been building AI capability for leading Australian enterprises, developing AI strategy and building teams and capability to deliver sustainable AI solutions at scale.   Today Roshan leads Australia Post’s enterprise data function, and is focused on delivering a business data transformation to enable the next generation of digital capability for Australia Posts team members and customers.

 

Athon Millane – Founder, Sadana Labs

As a pioneer in Machine Learning agencies in Brisbane and Melbourne, Athon has focused on building performant, fault-tolerant ML systems for industries spanning life sciences, biotech, ecology and finance. After completing his thesis in Representation Learning for Cancer Genomics, in collaboration with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and Google Genomics, Athon has focused on neural representations to support applications requiring custom spatial, temporal and topological relationships. This ongoing development of tools and platforms for non-standard use cases led to the formation of Sadana Labs.

 

What is the aim of this panel?

During our recent short course Practical AI for Non-Coders we encountered a number of very interesting queries in the Q&A during our live webinars. Whilst we were thrilled by the engagement and enthusiasm we couldn’t quite get to every question so we’re hosting this panel to give you the chance to hear the answers to these questions.

 

Will the panel be recorded?

Yes, we will be recording the webinar and we will be uploading the recording to our YouTube channel the very next day. We post all our webinars here so it’s worth having a browse to see what else is on offer.

 

How are the questions chosen?

There will be a mixture of pre-selected questions that will be developed by the ITM team with some input from our Panel members. We’ll also be opening up the Q&A to our live audience. The webinar will be around an hour long so we won’t be able to get to every question, unfortunately.

 

Do the panel members know the questions in advance?

As a part of the development of this panel the ITM team has asked all members to provide a sample question for the panel to discuss, these questions and questions we’ve encountered in our previous short courses have formed the basis for the questions that will be asked on the night.
