The subjects below give you the opportunity to either select from a range of elective subjects to graduate with a Master of Business Administration (Computing) or if you select four Elective Industry Subjects from the same “specialisation” group, you can have this listed on your degree award e.g. Master of Business Administration (Computing – Project Management).

Note about credit: Where students are entitled to what is called “unspecified credit” (credit from an industry certification that isn’t related directly to a subject), gaining 2 or more unspecified subject credits will mean they can’t study enough subjects to gain a specialisation (they will receive the MBA (Computing) title). Abstract

This subject examines the identification, measurement and management of risk using multi-disciplinary techniques. The role of the decision maker and the role of decision-making heuristics and bias are studied together with key qualitative and quantitative techniques used to model, measure and treat risk. The subsequent treatment of risk through risk retention, self-insurance or the transfer and avoidance of risk is also examined. Abstract

This subject focuses on the leadership skills, knowledge and understanding required to deliver successful projects as the head of the project team. Students will learn the executive aspects of project management which sit above the project methodology layer, as well as exploring modern developments in project management. Team leadership and management techniques are compared and analysed as well as techniques to handle common project challenges. The core project constraints are explored in the overview. Abstract

This subject helps students prepare for industry certification in the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT 5) framework, which defines a set of generic processes for the governance of enterprise IT (GEIT). All components of COBIT 5 will be examined along with its relationship with other popular frameworks and ISO/IEC standards. Entry requirements

There are two ways you can gain entry into the MBA (Computing).

  1. An undergraduate/bachelor’s degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or overseas equivalent).
  2. Professional attainment and/or work experience.

Even if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree, you can use your working history to gain entry into the Master’s through the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (Computing).

Graduate Certificate

The MBA (Computing) is an “articulated course” that incorporates the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (Computing). The Grad Cert contains the first 4 subjects of the Master’s – after completing these subjects you can be admitted with full credit into the MBA (Computing) to sit the rest of the subjects, at no extra cost overall.
