At IT Masters, we recognise the value of your prior academic and professional achievements. If you have previously studied a subject at another institution at the postgraduate level, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This process acknowledges the skills and knowledge you’ve accumulated, potentially shortening the time required to complete your degree with Charles Sturt University (CSU).
How Postgraduate Credit Works
RPL can be assessed in a manner similar to Industry Certification Credit:
- At the point of admission: Provide your transcripts and subject outlines to have your prior learning reviewed and credited.
- Start your course with credit: If approved, you’ll begin your degree with subjects already recognised, reducing your study load.
- Maximum credit: The maximum level of credit available is up to 50% of any course, ensuring a balance between recognising prior learning and completing core subjects at IT Masters.
Eligibility Criteria
To be awarded postgraduate credit through RPL, your prior study must meet the following criteria:
- Postgraduate level: The subject must have been completed at a postgraduate level.
- Recency: The study must have been completed within the last 10 years.
- Subject match: The subject outline must match at least 80% of the content of the IT Masters subject you are seeking credit for.
Final approval is determined by the Eligibility Officer and the CSU Course Director, ensuring that the credit awarded aligns with the learning outcomes of your IT Masters course.
Benefits of Recognition of Prior Learning
- Reduce study time: Complete your degree faster by gaining credit for subjects you’ve already mastered.
- Save tuition fees: Fewer subjects to study means lower overall course costs.
- Recognise your prior learning: Make the most of your previous academic achievements.
Take the Next Step
If you’ve completed postgraduate study elsewhere, don’t let that effort go unrecognised. Submit your documents for Recognition of Prior Learning and start your IT Masters journey with credit for the work you’ve already done—up to 50% of your course.
