Course Schedule

In this module we will introduce the concept and types of penetration testing, as well as provide background information around the process, useful frameworks and skills needed. We’ll also cover the different types of penetration tests and how to deal with the client of a penetration test.

Webinar: 29 January at 7:30 PM (Sydney Time)

A fundamental skill for a penetration tester is being able to find the target systems within the scope of a penetration test. This module will be all about the identification and enumeration of penetration test targets. This will include the types of tools and techniques used for host and network scanning. We’ll also start to touch on web-based attacks as a historically key technique to gain access to an enterprise network.

Webinar: 5 February at 7:30 PM (Sydney Time)

Once access to an enterprise IT network has been gained, the penetration tester needs to know how to move around. This module will cover the techniques used to move laterally within an enterprise environment, such as making use of Active Directory weaknesses and wireless networks. We’ll also cover the most dangerous weapon in the arsenal, social engineering.

Webinar: 12 February at 7:30 PM (Sydney Time)

This module will cover the end stages of the penetration test, keeping a foothold in the environment and exfiltration of data. Both techniques are as important for the target organisation to consider as the initial intrusion vectors. We’ll then cover, arguably the most important part of completing a penetration test, the penetration test report. Without this deliverable the penetration test is almost useless. A good penetration test report can alter the course of an organisation for the better.

Webinar: 19 February at 7:30 PM (Sydney Time)

  • Time limit: 1 hour
  • Attempts allowed: One
