Who will present the webinars?
Matt Constable – our senior industry based networking and cyber security lecturer, Matt has over 15 years as a network engineer, cyber security analyst and communications engineer including managing a team of engineers who provided L3 support on a network with 110 remote sites and 7000 users. Matt has a total of 6 academic qualifications including a Master of Computer Security, a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.
Tim Jones – with over 20 years technical experience in networking, cloud, security and infrastructure, Tim is an IT Masters and CSU alumnus, holding a Masters of Information Systems Security as well as dozen industry certifications including AWS, Azure & Google Cloud Architecture and is a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
Jeremy Koster – with over 20 years of experience in IT with 15 years specialising in Cyber Security within large enterprises, Jeremy has a range of security qualifications including GIAC Penetration Testing (GPEN), CISM, CISSP, PCIP, GCIH, CEH and CHFI and completed his Masters of Information System Security with Charles Sturt University (CSU) in 2006. He is a CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer and has been an industry based, part-time lecturer with CSU since 2011.
Brenton Burchmore – our senior industry based management lecturer and subject designer. During his 20+ years in corporate management, Brenton has overhauled and implemented systems, processes, procedures and software utilising an array of project management techniques and methods. He now brings his practical experience to another free online short course.
What is the aim of this short course?
This short course aims to provide a fundamental understanding of various aspects of IT to prepare for postgraduate study, and assist with decision making for area of study specialisation and subject choice.
This short course will also give you a ‘taster’ of what it is like to do online postgraduate study with Charles Sturt University, in particular the Graduate Certificate in Computing (Career Transition).
What is included?
In addition to the weekly hour-long interactive webinars, you will be provided with audio lectures, suggested reading materials, an active discussion forum and a weekly activity to complete.
Is there a final exam?
Yes — the short course exam will be a timed, open-book exam that you will sit at your computer.
Do I get a completion certificate if I complete the course?
Yes — provided you receive a pass mark (50% or over) for the exam.
Will the course qualify me for university credit?
Yes — successful completion of three or more of our short courses will qualify you for one credit for an industry elective subject in our postgraduate courses. Click here for further details.
