MBA (Computing) – now with IT, PM and Digital Marketing Specialisations
5 December 2019

We’re excited to announce that in 2020 we’re introducing a new MBA (Computing with Specialisations). This unique course was originally developed because many professionals want an MBA on their resume while also keeping their technical skills current. Now we’ve added 21 additional subjects to our existing MBA as well as the opportunity to achieve a “Specialisation” in:

  • Cyber Security,
  • Cloud Computing,
  • Networking,
  • Project Management, or
  • Digital Marketing

You can choose from a range of industry elective subjects to achieve an MBA (Computing), or study from one key area to receive your specialisation on your testamur i.e. MBA (Computing – Cyber Security). Find out more here.

What is the Return on Investment (ROI)?

The latest (2016) Australian Census data shows IT Managers with a Master’s earn an average of $12,511 per year more than those without a university qualification. Over the course of a 25-year career, with an MBA cost of $35K, this would mean ROI of 793%.

When Can I Start?

The new MBA (Computing) is available for students to start studying as soon as January 20th or March 3rd 2020, and online applications through CSU are open now. You can submit your basic application to secure your place and provide any extra documentation later. Any questions? Feel free to contact us.

For people without an undergraduate degree we have a great Graduate Certificate pathway into the MBA which means no extra study time or cost. You can get an assessment of your eligibility here (as well as checking for any credits to fast-track your studies).

Unspecified Credits and Specialisation

Note that if you are entitled to what is called “unspecified credit” for your industry subjects (credit from a certification that isn’t related directly to a subject i.e. for 3 IT Masters Short Courses), this may affect your ability to gain a specialisation. Gaining 2 or more unspecified subject credits in the new MBA (Computing) will mean that you won’t be able to study enough subjects to gain a specialisation (you will receive the MBA (Computing) title).

However may still be eligible for a specialisation if your credits relate directly to the relevant subjects. For example, if you have a number of PMI, Prince2 or AIMP certifications you may be able to graduate with an MBA (Computing – Project Management).

This should not be an issue for most applicants, but if you have any questions please contact us.

Current Students

If you are a current student of the MBA or MMIT (i.e. you enrolled in 2019 or earlier), read more about how these changes will affect you.
